With the cost of airfares being taxed beyond affordability, and the tail end of the recession hitting the UK (plus, let’s not forget, poor exchange rates), many people decided to holiday at home this summer. In fact, more Brits than at any time in living memory chose ‘stay-cations’ this year and, while we at Plastic Surgeon are nationally based, with our finishers working from John O’Groats to Land’s End, our headquarters are, in fact, in one of the wettest holiday destinations in England - Devonshire.

The dying days of August may have offered a few tantalising rays of sunshine to the holiday makers that visited Devon and Cornwall, but many have been bedraggled by rain for most of the summer, and some campers have even packed up early, fed up with being wet through and trying to amuse their bored children.

The last bank holiday weekend saw the usual jams on the M5 and A303, traffic crawling, coming to a standstill, and then creeping forward again, as families lugged their beloved caravans and motor homes back to wherever they live – all dreading the end of the summer and the inevitable bun-fight in shops to buy new school uniforms ready for the start of the new term.

But the British are naturally optimists, and will be turning to companies such as Plastic Surgeon to repair those inevitable mishaps that have happened in their caravans, camper vans or motor homes over the season, so that they are ready for next year’s ‘barbeque summer.’

They will want their ’vans looking pristine for their next trek to the Westcountry, Wales, Peak District or Scotland. And we at Plastic Surgeon have long been repairing scratches, dents and gouges to sinks, cookers, shower trays and toilets in caravans as well as static holiday homes, whether the fittings are made from plastic, uPVC or steel, aluminium or composite, we can fill, sand and then colour-match the repairs we make, so that they are virtually invisible to the eye.

We also frequently repair other damage done to caravan interior finishes, which are often manufactured from marine ply or other timber products – the items we mend include cupboard doors, internal doors and kitchen worktops, and our finishers can colour-match the grain, patina and hue perfectly.

We have also been asked to repair scratches to the white goods in caravans, which include cookers and fridges. But we can even make good scratches in the plastic windows, the flooring and the walls.

So come on, you hardy holiday makers – rather than replace those damaged items in your ‘van, we will repair them for you instead, saving you enough money, maybe, to have a holiday in the Med where the sun always shines. But then again, maybe we WILL have a BBQ summer next year!
