Exterior wall cladding panels, measuring 1200mm high by 6500mm wide, had suffered scratches and dents from both following trades and during transit. Main contractor, RG Group, called upon Plastic Surgeon to find a repair solution for this unsightly damage, which had occurred at various levels across the 70 damaged wall panels.
The steel cladding wall panels were originally factory treated with a painted polyester powder coat finish. To repair the dents and scratches, Plastic Surgeon’s Finishers utilized a two pack filler, which was then rubbed down before being re-sprayed with a specially formulated, high quality single pack paint, manufactured by a UK company with 80 years experience of industrial coatings.
This finish offers several advantages, these being the fast drying time, low odour and proven durability, as well as its incredible toughness; the latter ensuring that the wall panels should not need ongoing repair work in the future for the busy supermarket.
Another advantage of the coating Plastic Surgeon specified is the fact that the pigments used to create the tints are of automotive grade, and thus will ensure very good colour retention as well as resist UV fading over time.
Plastic Surgeon re-sprayed all 70 wall cladding panels to get as even and accurate colour-match as possible, that would exactly match Asda’s corporate colours, which the original coating did not.
Working at height while undertaking such work is always an important issue for Plastic Surgeon, and it was decided that the safest access for this project would be ensured by using a scissor lift.
Through calling in Plastic Surgeon, with its knowledge and experience in choosing and undertaking durable and effective repairs, Asda now boasts a smart and welcoming façade, with a finish that impressed all at RG Group upon final inspection.
