Rob Mouser on success

Rob Mouser on success

Last year’s success in winning the Waste Minimisation category in the National Recycling Awards proved to be a real stepping stone for Plastic Surgeon in terms of the recognition we have earned: for despite having been active in the house building industry for over 20 years, many site managers still call back trades people, such as carpenters, to deal with the accidental damage that occurs on virtually every project.

The increased national recognition which has come with the awards success – as well as industry accreditations – has helped speed Plastic Surgeon’s move into sectors such as social housing, hotels & leisure, and facilities management. In all instances, the customers concerned are seeking to make better use of their repair and maintenance budgets, while also wanting to cut their environmental footprint: and repairing items such as doors, windows, work-surfaces and bathroom suites is the sustainable alternative to replacement.

As a direct result of this increased turnover, Plastic Surgeon has been recruiting, training up new Finishers at our national headquarters, in order to boost the numbers for the regional teams. And not only are we giving trainees a comprehensive grounding in techniques from rebuilding damaged sanitary ware to  polishing graffiti scratches out of glass, Plastic Surgeon is constantly investing in the development of new repair strategies.

Not only are we recruiting strongly in what most people still regard as a flat market, but despite setting very ambitious growth targets for the current financial year, we have actually outperformed them. This is thanks in part to our establishing ourselves in new markets such as facilities management, and consolidating our role with the UK’s top insurers, which was our previous diversification. The future is very promising.
