A change of career is common these days, and it is often said that few skills, once learnt, are wasted. This has held true for one young person in particular, who responded to a recruitment advertisement from Plastic Surgeon, the UK-wide cosmetic repairs specialist.

Tracey had worked previously as a stylist and beauty technician, but joined Plastic Surgeon four years ago. Since joining as a Finisher, she has advanced to Level 2, and is embracing and enjoying the change of industry.

Plastic Surgeon, which operates throughout the UK, and completes cosmetic repairs and resurfacing work across a wide variety of trades and industries, offers its staff specialist skills training and genuine opportunities for career progression. The company has nationwide teams and services clients such as homebuilders, contractors and cruise line operators.

When asked about her new career, Tracey said: “As a new person joining from outside the building industry, I thought the training was very thorough and very well planned. The first impression I got, was that I was joining a very professional company.”

She continued: “After the completion of my initial training, which lasted around two weeks, I joined Plastic Surgeon’s eastern region team. I have been back since for additional training, including the ceramics work taught by Andy Keenagh, who is an excellent trainer with a wealth of experience.”

The construction industry has historically been considered a predominantly male environment, due to the heavy-duty nature of the work.

As an equal opportunity employer however, Plastic Surgeon, takes care to ensure equality and diversity across its staff.

Tracy said: “At Plastic Surgeon, there is no discrimination, you can move on to any level of the business if you have the right determination, skills and work ethic.”
