The specialist finishing and repair firm has appointed a Head of Insurance Services as it expands its insurance offering in recognition of the growing requirement for repair within the industry.
Plastic Surgeon, which operates throughout the UK, has appointed Chris Edwards as its Head of Insurance Services as it looks to offer specialist support to insurers, as the industry grows and increasingly recognises the value of repair over replacement.
Chris Edwards, Plastic Surgeon’s newly appointed Head of Insurance Services, said: “The potential for repair in insurance is vast. Having worked in the sector for many years, I’m well positioned to offer advice on how Plastic Surgeon’s skills can assist insurers, having experienced the benefits first hand in my previous positions.”
Chris has worked in insurance for more than 20 years, having previously worked for AXA and Building Validation Solutions. In his former job roles, Chris had to call on the services of Plastic Surgeon to facilitate repair, which gave him direct appreciation of the firm’s capabilities. Having recognised the potential offered by Plastic Surgeon, Chris was keen to join the operation when the opportunity arose.
He said: “The value of the services that Plastic Surgeon can provide insurers currently suffers from limited recognition. Opportunities to repair and reinstate are frequently missed across all types of insurance. Over the year’s replacement has become the norm given the lack of alternatives.
Chris continued: “Repair over replacement provides choice for customers, it cuts down on unnecessary waste and can significantly improve overall claims lifecycles.”
Plastic Surgeon has seen rapidly rising demand for its specialised services, which cover a range of industries and has 155 directly employed repair specialists – or Finishers – across its seven UK regions, all trained in a variety of skills.
Plastic Surgeon has invested in developing new repair techniques and as a result it offers repair solutions for the widest possible selection of building substrates including masonry, metal, glass, ceramics and plastics.
Chris Edwards concluded: “It’s an exciting time for Plastic Surgeon as it looks to expand further into the insurance sector. I’ll be helping to guide this expansion, offering my personal experience of insurance to help ensure we take the right approach and deliver to customers’ requirements.”
