Cardiff Pointe is a new residential development in Cardiff Bay, consisting of a mix of apartments and townhouses built with views overlooking Penarth Marina.
Made up of 98 individual plots – which is split into 43 apartments and 55 townhouses – the development is a high-end residential scheme that is part of a wider regeneration of Cardiff Bay, which has also seen the construction of the Ice Arena Wales, part of Cardiff’s International Sports Village.
Kier Construction has been the main overseer of the project, and it is through Kier that Plastic Surgeon has become involved. With Kier responsible for the handover process, where clients eventually take ownership of the home, Plastic Surgeon has been called in to make good any last-minute snags, bumps and scrapes that have occurred during the final stages of the building process.
With properties being sold on an individual basis, rather than wholesale, Plastic Surgeon’s Fine Finishers have been called in as and when needed to facilitate repairs for handover. Depending on the scope of the repairs that have been required, the time on site can range from a single day, to two days, three days or even up to a week. Sometimes repairs have been carried out in a block on multiple properties at a time, other callouts have seen just one property requiring repair – but the flexibility of Plastic Surgeon’s team means they’re available when needed.
The properties have been built to a high specification, with prices ranging from £165,000 to as high as £880,000. As with any newly built properties, there are a range of materials used in the construction process which often require repair due to accidental damage during the course of work being carried out.
Thanks to Plastic Surgeon’s specialist cosmetic surface repair skills, the firm is often called in to make a wide array of repairs – from glass to brick, ceramic to wood; its finishers are able to repair practically any surface. Ranging from minor scratches, to major impact damage, Plastic Surgeon has rectified a variety of surfaces and substrates in the properties of Cardiff Pointe, including polishing out scratches on glass tops, and repairing damaged oak on the properties’ stairs as well as fixing chipped brick and bathroom ceramics.
In the Cardiff Pointe development, Plastic Surgeon’s specialist skills have been called upon for approximately two thirds of the overall number of plots, with the work being carried out across an 18-month period.
