As the number of staycations increase, the popularity of the caravan holiday has grown, so make sure you keep yours in top condition this winter.

Earlier in the summer, the uncertain future of foreign travel saw to a boom in sales for the motorhome and caravan market as Brits chose to holiday closer to home.

Motorhome dealers, classified advertising websites, and manufacturers all reported increased interest, according to a recent article from the BBC, with the National Caravan Council reporting that caravan registrations in July were up 20% on the previous year across the UK.

The picture was similar for those renting static caravans in the UK, with leading holiday park operator, Parkdean, reporting an increase in revenue compared to the same time last year, of 50%.

With October half term fast approaching, those in areas not currently under restriction to travel may be looking at an autumn escape or thinking of getting their caravan ready for when restrictions lift.

Plastic Surgeon are caravan repair experts

James Winston, Learning & Development Manager at Plastic Surgeon explains:

“As caravans are becoming more and more popular, we are seeing an increase in enquiries for our repair service.”

“Plastic Surgeon is able to repair a whole range of items inside or outside a touring or static caravan or indeed a motorhome. It calls for specialised, detailed work due to the nature of the fragile componants as they need to be light and are therefore delicate.

“We woacross the whole vehicle, from accidental burns on kitchen worktops to impact damage on the doors and fixtures of the van.

“A caravan is a huge asset, and items can be quite hard to replace, particularly as on average a static caravan lasts 15 years and a touring caravan or motorhome 10 years (or more in many cases).

“We are able to carefully rebuild the damaged area and colour match the repair, so it blends seamlessly into the overall surface bringing it back to its former glory.

“We also work with caravan parks to ensure static caravans are pristine and help individual owners as and when required.

“Repairs range from accidental panel scuffs, to cracks, burns, scratches and stains – we’ll get the interior and exterior looking perfect once again and ensure that caravan owners can continue to rent out their caravans at a competitive rate.”

Caravans sometimes have a number of owners in their lifetime, so keeping it in top condition, repairing any bumps, scrapes and burns along the way will prolong its life and ensure that when selling it on, you obtain the best possible price.
