The Best Companies Accreditation Standard follows the elite Michelin style star rating system for organisations that demonstrate high levels of employee engagement. Based on staff feedback, organisations receive a Best Companies Index score (BCI) which determines their star rating compared to a fixed standard.


Plastic Surgeon is a member of Constructionline, meaning that as a supplier, it does not need to repeatedly fill in standard pre-qualification forms for every construction tender. Constructionline pre-qualifies all of its suppliers to approved government standards.

The company’s application for SAFEcontractor accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard process across the business. John Kinge, Head of Risk at SAFEcontractor said, “Major organisations can no longer run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies”. “More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Plastic Surgeon has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example, which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector”. Under the SAFEcontractor system, businesses undergo a vetting process, which examines health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice. Those companies meeting the high standard are included on a database, which is accessible to registered users only via a website,

Plastic Surgeon is CHAS accredited (Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme), which means that we have achieved health and safety pre-qualification assessments to a nationally recognized and accepted threshold standard.

Plastic Surgeon is accredited as a SMAS Worksafe Contractor. This confirms that Plastic Surgeon has been approved by the Safety Management Advisory Services Limited and has been awarded a full Worksafe Contractor Membership Certificate.

The SMAS Worksafe Contractor accreditation provides our customers with the assurance that we have been assessed and accredited by an SSIP Forum member and have achieved the competence to provide specific services within a common health and safety threshold. The assessment followed the Core Criteria Stage 1 Contractor Assessment process for assessing health and safety competence of contractors and consultants working in the construction industry. The introduction of these competence criteria provide an opportunity for existing health and safety prequalification schemes to build on and formalise mutual recognition already in operation amongst some schemes

Created to recognise innovative and creative schemes and services for the UK housing sector, Plastic Surgeon took the title for the second year in a row.

According to Plastic Surgeon MD Rob Mouser, industry accolades such as the Housing Innovation Awards are a positive reflection of the work that the company is doing. “Given the wealth of really talented suppliers providing a diverse range of services into the housing sector, we are delighted to have received this award for the second time. National surface repair expert, Plastic Surgeon, celebrated a double award win at the Exeter Business Awards 2013. Plastic Surgeon directors, Rob Mouser and Trevor Harreld, accepted the awards at a glittering ceremony held at Exeter University on April 26th. The company was awarded ‘Best Creative Business’ for its recently launched national Save Our Surfaces campaign. A creative initiative to promote the concept of cosmetic repair and educate people about the huge benefits of repairing rather than replacing damaged surfaces. Business of the Year Plastic Surgeon was also awarded the hotly contested ‘Business of the Year’. Judging panel member Geoff Gale said: The winner of Business of the Year has diversified, created new products and techniques to build a brand identity and has won several major contracts. “The judges decided this was a unanimous decision as Business of the Year.”

Plastic Surgeon is one of three organisations to have received a prestigious Gold Zero Waste Award for their commitment and innovation in reducing waste and recycling, following the latest round of judging. A further 22 businesses from across the UK also received Silver, Bronze or Highly Commended awards for their work. The awards scheme, which is run by, recognises achievements in waste prevention, reuse, recycling and energy recovery. Award submissions were judged by: John Holbrow from the Federation of Small Businesses; Sarahjane Widdowson, waste management and resource efficiency lead at consultancy Ricardo-AEA; Amy North, features editor at, and John Woodruff chairman of the National Association of Waste Disposal Officers. Commenting on the entries, Ms Widdowson said: “I was very impressed by the standard of entrants to the Zero Waste Awards. Resource efficiency is evidently at the heart of the organisations taking part, and they clearly understand that it makes good business sense as well as providing fantastic environmental improvements. “It was particularly pleasing to read about organisations that are driving waste up the hierarchy: recycling activities were maximised and even challenging waste streams were targeted; reuse was championed and waste prevention activities prioritised. I believe there are best practice examples that we can all learn from and I look forward to the results being announced so that the organisations receive the recognition they deserve.” Mr Holbrow added: “The FSB was pleased to see the quality and quantity of the entries for the zero waste awards. Most businesses had achieved a good standard of waste management often in challenging conditions with plans for further progress. We look forward to the next zero waste awards to see the further progress made. Well done to all entrants.”

BIFM Innovation in Products winner


Plastic Surgeon won the prestigious 2011 British Institute of Facilities Management Awards for the ‘Innovation in Products’ category.

The BIFM judges stated that Plastic Surgeon’s innovation is a: “Simple concept of cosmetic repairs and fine finishing services, developed from the automotive industry and introduced into the service sector. Plastic Surgeon has innovatively taken these products and developed them into a market leading customer offer. The range is endless, the ability to effect cosmetic repairs on virtually any product in the built environment. The potential is huge, the benefits likewise both in terms of cost, minimising disruption, rapid respond and fix times and environmental benefits…. “don’t skip it… fix it !”. Underpinning all of this is a fantastic customer support model creating a mobile repair solution which models perfectly into industry ways of working. A truly innovative solution which has massive potential.

National Recycling award winner


Plastic Surgeon won the ‘Waste Minimisation Award’ at the 2011 National Recycling Awards.

Plastic Surgeon fought off tough competition to win the award from Costain, Crystal Clear Window Works, London Borough of Hackney and a joint venture by Skanska and Balfour Beatty. A spokesperson from MRW said: “The judges loved that this was a business all about repairing rather than replacing materials – and saving waste in the process.” Rob Mouser, Managing Director of Plastic Surgeon said: “We are delighted to have won such a prestigious award. By taking on the ‘snagging’ or damage inevitably caused by building contractors during the build process, and helping to repair and maintain surfaces in existing buildings, our team work to avoid the need to replace damaged items, thereby reducing the huge volume of material sent to landfill every week.” He went on to say: “Last year we saved 64,938 items from landfill and carried out 208,221 repairs, this award gives us credible recognition for our commitment to sustainability”

Plastic Surgeon was announced a winner in the 2011 Exeter Express and Echo Business Awards, in the ‘Exellence in Customer Service’ category.

The judges commented that: “The winning company seemed to have considered every aspect of customer services across the business. They have invested in bespoke systems designed to make the customer experience more effective and the company more responsive. And extensive customer testimonials were provided to support their entry.” Plastic Surgeon was also runner up in the ‘Environmental Award’ category.


Plastic Surgeon was the overall award winner of the DEBI Environmental Awards 2010, and winner of the Environmental Goods and Services category. The DEBI judges commented: “From a modest head quarters in Bovey Tracey this firm operates nationwide controlling repair teams from Perth to Penzance.The firm’s co founder, Managing Director, Rob Mouser, impressed the judges by his clear commitment to minimising waste and his wider ethos of good environmental management. The building industry is responsible for over 40% of waste generated – the service offered by Plastic Surgeon, to effectively repair surfaces, negates the need, and therefore has a real potential to lower waste arising nationally.
