Summary
We were approached by loss adjusters to restore large areas of a period property after black gloss paint damaged several rooms on the ground floor causing severe damage to the kitchen and flooring throughout.
Black gloss paint – notoriously difficult to remove – covered their bespoke solid wood kitchen and original tiled floor. The loss adjuster had spoken to a number of specialist disaster restoration companies. All had viewed the damage and suggested the damaged items were not restorable, the only option being a very disruptive, messy and costly strip out and replacement with new flooring and a complete new kitchen.
We were able to provide an alternative solution, we fully restored all the damaged areas, saving the insurer over £100,000 compared to the cost of replacement.
Result
Our team were able to carry out a full-scale restoration to the entire ground floor. We project managed the entire process, calling on specialist contractors to assist where required.
The entire project took just one month to complete, and the policy holder was only required to find alternative accommodation for two weeks during this time. Had the customer had to have everything replaced this would have increased considerably, potentially taking up to three times longer.
As the property was a period home with many original features – many of which were irreplaceable – our highly experienced finishers restored all the damaged areas by hand, bringing them back to their former glory to the customer’s delight. Costs were considerably cheaper, a fraction of the cost of replacement.
